Become a Power Origination Advisor within Energy Procurement & Management (EPM) with the client and build a better tomorrow. The client's Energy Procurement & Management (EPM) organization is responsible for developing The client's multi-billion-dollar energy resource portfolio, with a particular emphasis on non-GHG emitting resources in furtherance of the Clients clean energy commitment. As an Advisor in Power Contract Origination, your work will focus on the procurement of energy resources and oversee all aspects of the deal-making process, including the solicitation process, due diligence, negotiations, selections, and closing.
In this job, your primary function will assist in energy procurement solicitations, originating and negotiating mid-term, and long-term structured transactions and power purchase agreements on behalf of The client customers while ensuring compliance with the California Public Utility Commission's (CPUC) rules and regulations, including The client's Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), Renewables Portfolio Standard, Resource Adequacy program, and other related regulatory procurement requirements. Products include renewable and alternative energy, capacity, energy storage, emissions, and transmission.

Responsibilities
- Manages the negotiation process for non-standard power, capacity, and environmental deals, and identifies and proposes potential growth opportunities
- Participates in formulating strategies to meet profitability targets for wholesale origination, and actively collaborates with counterparties and other teams
- Develops systems, reviews reports, and models to facilitate decision-making and information transparency, driving commercial effectiveness and efficiency
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Development, Finance, Project Execution and other internal teams in order to prepare for proposals and meetings with customers
- Supports operating strategies around market conditions and trends to guide the client's power procurement strategies. Stays informed of state, local and federal regulatory policies and actions that impact energy procurement and emissions reporting
- Carries out the identification and sourcing of optimal revenue structures for key projects
- Leads the preparation of presentations and materials to support approvals of proposed bids and negotiated revenue agreements
- Drives revenue-related diligence of existing and new project opportunities
- Contributes to the development of proposals and presentation materials for customers for both RFP processes as well as bilateral negotiations
- Organizes all counterparty risk and taxation documentation and conformation issues for the business
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven years experience with energy project origination for utilities and/or resource firms.
- Experience negotiating and managing energy contracts such as renewables, energy storage, conventional power, combined heat and power, or natural gas
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field of study
- Experience in energy markets, including deregulated energy markets, related to both physical operations and regulatory structures
- Experience interacting with state, local and federal regulatory agencies, including the ability to prepare reports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language
- Experience analyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams and implementing multiple projects
- Experience developing strategies for complex and competitive situations involving multiple variables
- Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and engage in continuous learning
Salary : $135,000 - $185,000
