Project Engineer
Salary : $70 - $80 per hour
Contract : 1-3 year
Hybrid : Downtown LA
The Project Engineer is the single point of contact for all technical matters and is responsible for the quality and timeliness of all engineering deliverables whether completed by an engineering firm or the company. The Project Engineer sets up and conducts Bluebeam reviews of design packages at the 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC stages and manages the technical activities in the project schedule and engineering firm resources accountable to it. The Project Engineer conducts regular status meetings with engineering firms and company staff, reviews and approves invoices from the engineering firms and will review and manage RFIs and Change Orders.
Manage and coordinate all activities leading to the successful completion of projects including project scoping, timelines, cost estimates and design. Develop and maintain project parameters for project requirements. Provide direction to contractors, consultants, and project team. Coordinates input from and participation with various other departments within the Company as needed to meet project objective.
Analyze and determine regulatory impacts and requirements of the project. May build business cases and justifications.
Responsible for providing team / project goals and evaluating performance. Research and evaluate available contractors and consultants. Prepare, negotiate and approve or recommend approval of contracts. Negotiate contracts changes.
Manage related workforce planning, budget analysis, and prepare budget forecasts.
Testify before and / or prepare supporting documentation for CPUC and other government agencies concerning cost estimates.
Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
Manage 10 - 15 projects simultaneously
Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS :
6 - 15 years of related experience, or equivalent training and experience
Knowledge of Gas Measurement, Pressure Control and / or Compressor Station equipment and its operations.
Familiar with Transmission System and how it operates
Understanding of electrical, communications, instrumentation and controls
Understanding of Engineering Design Package process and Project initiation.
Project Management fundamentals - CDM
Familiar with Company design standards and MSPs
Must be able to assess the potential financial impact of a project to the Company.
Must possess the ability to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions.
Project management knowledge required.
CERTIFICATIONS :
DOT Safety Sensitive
PMP Certification, a plus
Registered Professional Engineer, a plus
EDUCATION :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil / Structural, Chemical)
An MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
Position requires two in-office days per week, Wednesday and Thursday, for a minimum of 4 hours each of those two days.
