Job Description:
Superdome Sports in Northvale, NJ is looking for a Basketball Trainer/Coach to join our team and lead basketball training classes for players of all ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching basketball at various levels, a passion for teaching the game, and the ability to engage athletes ranging from beginners to advanced players.
As a coach at Superdome Sports, you’ll be responsible for creating fun, dynamic, and skill-focused basketball sessions, fostering an environment where athletes can grow and improve. Whether working with kids, teens, or adults, you’ll play a key role in helping players develop their basketball skills, teamwork, and overall athleticism.
Responsibilities:
- Lead basketball training sessions for a wide range of participants, including children, teens, and adults, with varying levels of experience.
- Develop and implement training drills that focus on fundamental skills (shooting, passing, ball handling, defense) and advanced techniques for more experienced players.
- Provide individual coaching and feedback to players to help them improve their skills.
- Ensure that classes are structured, engaging, and safe for all participants.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive atmosphere that motivates players to grow and enjoy the sport.
- Communicate effectively with players and parents (for youth programs) about training objectives, progress, and schedules.
- Work with the Superdome Sports team to ensure the smooth operation of all training sessions and programs.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to stay up to date on coaching trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of coaching basketball, with experience teaching players of all skill levels (beginner to advanced).
- Certifications: USA Basketball certification or equivalent coaching certifications preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Ability to teach basketball fundamentals and advanced skills; experience with coaching a variety of age groups (youth to adult).
- Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for basketball and a commitment to helping players of all ages and abilities improve.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with players and parents.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to demonstrate basketball drills and maintain an active coaching role.
- Background Check: A background check will be required before hiring.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.75 - $28.13 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
