Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Extinguisher Technician to join our team. The Extinguisher Technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, and maintaining fire extinguishers and other fire suppression equipment. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of fire safety regulations, strong technical skills, and the ability to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and recharging of fire extinguishers as necessary.
- Conduct hydrostatic testing and refilling of extinguishers as required.
- Install and replace fire extinguishers and fire suppression equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs performed.
- Provide recommendations for upgrades or replacements of fire protection equipment as needed.
- Educate customers on fire safety practices and proper use of fire extinguishers.
- Respond to service calls and emergency situations promptly and professionally.
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for servicing fire extinguishers.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in fire protection systems preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fire Extinguisher Technician or similar role is advantageous.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and codes (e.g., NFPA standards).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
