ANNUAL SALARY

$75,212.80 - $93,163.20

  This recruitment is open to external candidates, internal OCSC employees, internal OCSC promotions, and internal OCSC lateral transfers. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future positions.

TELEWORK/ON-SITE OPPORTUNITY
This position is eligible for a combination of telework and on-site work assignments. Telework must be completed from a pre-designated home-based location within the State of California and employees may be required to report on-site to address business needs.


Telework is at the sole discretion of the Court and may be rescinded with 48 hours' notice, based on needs of the Orange County Superior Court.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Technology Trainee performs a range of basic to entry-level duties in various professional disciplines while learning the Court's IT environment and the application of professional theories and principles. The position provides support to the Court's Vision unit which is responsible for the Criminal and Traffic Case Management System. 


The Technology Trainee performs assignments that are typically limited in scope, entail conventional problems and requirements, and are carried out within the framework of well-defined instructions from supervisors or lead staff.  Project/assignment requirements are clearly identified and can be satisfied by following established methods, practices, and precedents. As experience is gained, assignments are expected to increase in difficulty, encompassing greater scope, use of a wider set of methods and tools and the need for greater analysis and adaptation. Functions may vary based on assignment.


The Technology Trainee position typically works under the supervision of a Court Technology Team Lead or a Court Technology Manager. Incumbents may be rotated among professional IT disciplines for training and development purposes. Incumbents are expected to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to advance into a first-level professional position and must promote within 12 months of appointment.  There is no permanent status in this classification.

TECHNOLOGY TRAINEE

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

OPTION I

Bachelor's degree in management information systems, information technology, computer science or a closely related technical field. *Note: A copy of your college diploma or official transcripts must be included with your application in order to receive credit.  


OR


OPTION II

High school diploma or GED equivalent -AND- Two (2) years of full-time (or equivalent) of experience using or supporting various computer systems.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of RDBMS/SQL and/or PL/SQL
Knowledge of C#, Angular, .Net and/or Java programming
Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and Design
Knowledge of Agile programming

SELECTION PROCESS

STEP 1: Applications will be reviewed to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and/or desirables; those candidates will be referred to step 2 in the selection process.

STEP 2: Candidates' supplemental question responses may be evaluated and ranked. Depending on the number of applications, assessments and/or screening interviews may be conducted.

STEP 3: Those candidates who are successful in the review/assessment may be placed on the eligible list. Placement on the eligible list is not a guarantee of interview or employment.
