What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Driver position at Superior Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing, Inc.?
The Commercial Driver (Class A) is responsible for operating commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks to tow trailers and transport materials, equipment, and construction supplies to various commercial jobsites. The ideal candidate will have experience transporting commercial construction equipment and supplies. During non-drive or standby hours, the driver will assist with warehouse and/or yard duties to support the operations team. The scheduled shift is Sunday to Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Safely operates flatbed vehicles, heavy duty trucks, box trucks and/or service body vehicles
- Hook up and tow trailers as needed using a heavy-duty vehicle
- Load and unload cargo with proper tie-down protocols
- Track and document activity drive logs
- Communicate delivery expectations and updates with dispatch and management
- Complete pre and post check vehicle inspections
- Performs warehouse and yard duties when not hauling freight
- Additional duties assigned in the warehouse or yard as needed
- Class A commercial driver's license accepted by the FMCSA
- Minimum of two years commercial driving experience within a construction environment
- Ability to perform physical work, lifting or pulling up to 50lb occasionally during the work shift
- Pass a pre-employment DOT drug test
- Current DOT medical form
