Superior Completion Services is seeking a Technical Advisor 1 for our Completion Office in Houston, TX.
As a key part of the Completion Tools Division, you'll provide expert engineering and technical support to both internal teams and clients. You'll work closely with Account Managers and Operations to understand client needs and deliver innovative solutions. Collaborating with Senior Tech Advisors, you'll recommend cutting-edge technologies and tailored products. Your role will involve designing job solutions, creating procedures, and supporting engineering calculations. You’ll also select the right equipment for each application, ensuring the perfect fit and delivering top-notch technical expertise to clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Discussions with the client and account managers to ascertain the need and determine the appropriate course of action by providing in-depth solutions and technical expertise. This entails the preparation of Job design recommendations and procedures based on the available job information, criteria, best practices, training, experience, and job knowledge.
- Provide accurate quotes based on job design and job needs
- The position is responsible for recommending and preparing completion tools application design schematics and performing detailed and extensive engineering calculations and accompanying procedures.
- This position utilizes learned design and engineering principles to apply recommended designs and modify tools and equipment used within Completion Services to meet the fit-for-purpose application.
- The role uses best practices, product line information, technical knowledge, and experience to make decisions to develop solutions for the client.
- Perform, document, and review field studies & identify lessons learned to optimize equipment design and completion practices.
- Perform and provide onsite project management, and technical and operational recommendations as necessary based on engineering calculations and simulations for real-time remote jobs.
- The position must be able to run various engineering software packages to perform pertinent engineering calculations to support job design and procedures.· Assist in leading and assisting on internal project management and process with District Engineers, Supervisors, and Sales Reps during job planning and proposal development.
- Schedule and conduct cross-team meetings and track the project to ensure schedules are followed and met.
- Assist in the assembly and/or participation in customer demonstrations, RFP’s/RFQ’s, presentations, databasing, and track lessons with client post-job report follow-ups and reviews.
- Continued knowledge enhancement via coursework, job exposure, and cross-training. Keep abreast of industry developments and lead competitive product offerings.
- Use their experience, technical expertise, and job knowledge to train and deliver training to Field and Associate Engineers in basic design, engineering calculations, job procedures, and processes.
- Actively participate in technical society (SPE, API, AADE) conferences, meetings, study groups, etc.
- Serves as liaison between SCS Operations, Account Managers, and clients (if necessary) through all phases of a job
- Continued knowledge enhancement via coursework, job exposure, and cross-training. Keep abreast of industry developments and lead competitive product offerings.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor is required. An engineering degree is preferred.
- Other degrees are considered with relevant experience or in lieu of the same, extensive specialized experience in the field relevant to this position.
- Preferred Degrees are as listed but not limited to the following:
- Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, and Technology degrees.
- A minimum of 2 years of oilfield experience as either a Field Engineer or a District Engineer is required.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Knowledgeable and competent with experience in completion tools applications and operations.
- Working knowledge and ability to design a job.
- General knowledge of completions operations.
- Knowledge in the Application of Completion tools, downhole hydraulics, Torque and drag, Tubing movement calculations, and production flow dynamics.
- Knowledge of down-hole principles and Hydraulics.
- Knowledge of Tubing movement and T&D calculations/software.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Competent in MS Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic proficiency or ability to train and use enterprise accounting and sales software such as D365.
