GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This job title is responsible for providing engineering solutions to meet all the internal and external customers’ needs or constraints. A primary role for Houston-based Project Engineers is performing wellbore and drill string design modeling. Project Engineers are accountable for recommending the right equipment for both domestic and international projects. Other job duties include management of technical documents and technical support for customers and for in-house departments. This position reports to the Global Engineering Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute and present WSI (Workstrings International) drill string, landing string, and slip crushing designs, including all project updates requested, for customers and tender packages in coordination with the business development team.
Interact with customers in conjunction with the business development team to provide technical support, engineering solutions, and recommendations based on specific project or well criteria.
Provide technical support for tubulars, accessory equipment, and other standard or specialty designed equipment provided through WSI, including generation of rating spec sheets and engineering drawings, and interfacing with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) as needed.
Provide technical presentations as required for both internal and external audiences.
Keep engineering technical documents, data bases, etc. up to date.
Provide internal technical support for WSI Operations, QA / QC, Procurement, Business Development, and others as needed. Contribute positively to the team relationship.
Develop engineering tools and processes to continuously improve support throughout Engineering, Operations, QA / QC, Procurement, Business Development, customers, and assets.
Assist with new product development and special engineering projects, both internally and for WSI customers.
Educate and enhance the level of knowledge of WSI personnel on tubulars, connections, drill string design and engineering solutions.
Grow knowledge and understanding of relevant internal and industry topics to contribute to decisions and educate internal and external stakeholders.
Entertain customers with the business development team as appropriate.
Continuously strive to enhance customer relationships and develop new customers.
T ECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to use critical thinking skills and analyze engineering project data; prepare quality drawings, technical documents, reports and solutions based on limiting parameters and available asset inventory.
Knowledge in torque and drag and hydraulics modeling.
Ability to generate and present technical presentations and reports both to customers and internally.
Knowledge of drilling and completion processes and required equipment, including drill string and landing string design.
Knowledge of drilling rigs and equipment, particularly tubular handling equipment, as well as their capabilities.
Knowledge of tubulars and connections.
Proficient in Excel, Power Point, Word, and VBA.
Proficient in project management processes.
General knowledge of operations, QA / QC, and procurement processes.
Knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD software, such as SolidWorks, etc. a bonus.
Knowledge of drill string modeling software, such as DrillScan or WellPlan, a bonus.

EDUCTION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferable in Petroleum
Minimum of 3 years oilfield industry experience within Workstrings International, or another oilfield operator or service company. Must have experience in drilling, completions, interventions, and / or well design.
