Cutter-BCUTTR - Night Shift

Description of essential job functions:

Transports with forklift: Finished goods from inventory to be cut to customers specs. Goods from defect hold area to be reworked and cut to customer specs. Reels and skids to machines to be used to fill customer orders. Finished pallets to proper storage area for finished cut goods.

Use proper reels, boxes, and skids to meet customer specs. Must know how to read set up sheet. Writes proper product code on finished stretched wrapped products. Must be able to run the different machine in the cutting department. Performs the jobs of cable repairman and third-class tester. Must fill out paperwork properly, mistakes' causes the finished goods inventory to be off. Performs the P & I function on all cut bulk items. Last person to see the product before the customer. Must label all finished pallets with proper product code to keep from causing late shipments to customers.

Responsible for inspecting all reels to be cut to see that the reels are the right product. Responsible for the correct cut length and right reel, box, and pallet. Responsible for any damage to finished goods in the cutting area or being transported to bulk storage or in bulk storage. Responsible for returning reels to the yard and turning in a row tag,

Performs all necessary housekeeping duties to keep the department clear and orderly. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Equipment used:
  • Forklift, cable respooler, banding equipment, tape measure, stretch wrapper, stencils, label laminator, pulling eye machine, propane torches, computer, high voltage test set, calculator, tag printer, and miscellaneous hand tools
• Material Used:
  • Reel wrap material, stretch wrap, boxes, banding material, inks, lumber, nails, staples, skids, labels, pressure boots, heat shrink sleeve, pulling eyes, and reels

In order to perform this job satisfactorily, applicant must be able to:

• Can damage finished goods by careless use of forklift, cutting wrong length of product, or using wrong reels or skids. Can cause inventories to be off by writing wrong product code on finished pallets, returning reels to the yard improperly, by not filling out paperwork correctly, and not following proper procedures when a reel from finished goods is not found to be defective
• Minimum of one-month training to meet minimum job requirements
• Skill needed to perform various duties such as wrapping and marking pallets. Making the cuts at the right length for the customer. Operating of forklift is required
• Requires a legible handwriting, reading ability, computer knowledge, computation ability, and be able to respond to new product and their packaging
• Knowledge of proper packaging material required; knowledge of the product is required
• Knowledge of the customer specs required for proper cut length, reel boxes and skids
• Judgment in use of finished goods required to maximize cutting of the product
• Ingenuity and initiative required to get the most cuts and least scrap from a product

Physical requirements of this job:

• Subject to work outside in all types of weather, bruises, strains, sprains, cuts, burns and mashed hands
• Normal senses, good physical condition and no physical handicaps
• Exert force to move reels into place on the payoff and remove full take-up reels from take-up
