What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager/Leader - Commercial Estimator position at Superior Fence & Rail of Southeast Pennsylvania?
The Sales Leader will oversee a team of sales consultants, setting targets, developing sales strategies, and ensuring that the team meets or exceeds sales goals. The Sales Leader will also have responsibility to directly lead the commercial sales function including networking and building relationships with builders, cultivating the commercial sales funnel, and closing commercial sales deals.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid background in construction or contracting sales, and a passion for fostering client relationships. This role will focus on optimizing sales processes, increasing market share, and driving consistent revenue growth in residential and commercial fence sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of salespeople to achieve sales targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement sales training programs to enhance team skills and product knowledge.
- Monitor sales tasks like sending quotes and conducting follow-ups to ensure the sales team stays on track.
- Support the team with closing deals, handling complex negotiations, and addressing sales issues when necessary.
Commercial Sales & Business Development:
- Maintain and grow your own book of commercial business, meeting or exceeding company commercial sales targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in residential and commercial fencing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and referrals.
- Provide timely and accurate estimates, proposals, and follow-ups for prospective clients.
- Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve company revenue goals.
- Set clear sales targets and monitor progress through regular reporting.
- Identify new business opportunities and foster relationships with potential and existing clients.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth project handoff and client satisfaction.
- Research and understand legal best practices related to commercial contracting.
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as a key point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
- Handle client concerns or escalations and ensure quick resolution.
- Assist sales representatives with closing deals and complex negotiations when necessary.
Process Improvement:
- Evaluate and optimize current sales processes and procedures for efficiency.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of sales metrics, leads, and pipeline activities.
- Utilize CRM tools to monitor sales activities and improve client follow-up and service.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare regular sales forecasts and reports for company leadership.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of improvement.
- Monitor and understand economic factors that may impact sales and seasonality.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of sales management experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or a related field.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales tracking tools.
- Knowledge of fencing products and services (preferred but not required).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
The Superior candidate will:
- Have fence construction or landscaping experience
- Be organized and detail-oriented with a stable job history
- Have a positive attitude with excellent customer service skills
This position is for immediate hire. Typical work hours are from 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while visiting job sites or client locations.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., samples, promotional materials, or light equipment).
- Ability to climb stairs, walk on uneven terrain, and occasionally navigate active construction sites.
- Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (computer, phone, tablet).
- Ability to drive and travel locally to job sites, client meetings, and company locations.
- Visual acuity for reading documents, viewing screens, and assessing job sites.
