What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crane Operator position at Superior Forge and Steel Corporation?
Superior Forge & Steel Corporation is currently hiring Crane Operators for our operation in Lima, Ohio. The Crane Operator is a member of our Machining Department responsible for operating an overhead crane to facilitate movement of product and materials for machining and inspection operations. Crane Operators in Machining start at $22.20 an hour. Some training for this role will be done on 1st shift before employee is transitioned to 2nd or 3rd shift.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-operation inspection and testing of crane and associated equipment
- Operation of overhead (cab) crane
- Communication with operators and employees on floor
- Timely reporting of equipment problems and issues
- Maintaining all equipment and documentation needed for crane operation
- Perform other department duties, as assigned
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Must be capable of standing for long periods of time
- Exposed to seasonal temperature changes
- Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and vibration
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience with heavy equipment operation required
- Previous overhead crane experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to work any shift, including some weekends
Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screen
Classification: Hourly
