Superior Fresh is an industry-leading land-based fish farm specializing in Atlantic salmon.
The Electro-Mechanical Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; complete preventative maintenance tasks, run medium/large projects, and repair production and facility equipment according to safety, preventative maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives.
Job Functions
Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain aquaculture system and facility equipment. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
Read, interpret and follow work instructions, SOPs, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble, repair and maintain equipment.
Troubleshoot, modify, and program PLCs, HRM’s and frequency drives.
Use electrical and electronic test instruments as well as a full range of precision measuring tools to perform equipment repairs.
Provide emergency/non-scheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Sets up and operates a variety of shop equipment including drill press, grinders, welders, mills, lathes and other metal working tools to fabricate and repair parts.
Perform general maintenance including, but not limited to mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
Conduct regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities. Develop preventative maintenance plans and schedules for new equipment and revise existing plans, as required.
Quote repairs, projects and parts. Submit purchase requests and demonstrate diligent attention to cost and maintenance budgets
Maintain documented inventories of critical spares and the use of the company’s CMMS and other data files
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Follow all company designated record keeping activities.
Comply with worker safety, biosecurity and food safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Demonstrate the Company’s Core Values in the performance of all job functions.
Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
Job Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree in Electro Mechanical discipline, a craft apprentice, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
Experience:
- 2 years of electromechanical experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills as well as PLC, HMI and frequency drive experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Controls, Automation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, preferred
- Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Broad technical views and ability to understand aquaculture process design including statistical methods that will enhance or improve the speed, quality and cost effectiveness of production processes.
· Work safely, abiding by company policy and regulatory requirements
· Knowledge of industrial electrical, control, and instrumentation systems include control relay logic; voltage control schemes; photo-eyes; distance and pressure transducers; etc.
· Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Encourage the building of mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
· Attend onsite and distant training seminars and classes to bring new ideas and practices to Superior Fresh.
· Plan and coordinate projects within confines of production, defined budgets, and deadlines.

· Must be familiar with 3 phase 480 VAC and control circuitry theory (DC and AC).
· Work independently as well as in a team environment.

Schedule Expectations
- On-call with other employees to respond to system alarms.
- Will include some weekends and holidays.
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
