Hospice On Call Nurse Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response: Provide timely and skilled nursing interventions to manage symptoms, pain, and distress for hospice patients ( Evenings and Overnights)
- Telephonic Support: Offer empathetic and knowledgeable guidance to patients, families, and caregivers over the phone, ensuring immediate assistance.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and communicate vital information to daytime staff.
- Emotional Comfort: Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families facing urgent end-of-life situations.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments as needed, maintaining strict adherence to hospice protocols.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes to ensure continuity of care.
Hospice On Call Nurse Qualifications:
- RN Licensure: Active registered nurse license, demonstrating clinical competence and adherence to nursing standards.
- Hospice Expertise Required: Deep understanding of hospice principles and practices, with a genuine commitment to patient comfort and dignity.
- Compassionate Nature: Innate empathy and a heartfelt dedication to providing comfort to patients and families during challenging times.
- Critical Thinker: Strong problem-solving skills to assess urgent situations and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for clear and compassionate interactions with patients and families.
- Availability: Flexible schedule and readiness to respond promptly to on-call assignments, ensuring patient needs are met promptly.
