Job Description
A Buyer is responsible for completing the following tasks:
- Oversee the procurement and purchasing of items needed to support day–to–day operations for the corporation
- Establish and maintain good working relationship with internal and external customers as well as suppliers
- Establish and negotiate purchasing contracts and/or buying programs to attain the best overall value for every purchase
- Seek out new sources of items as needed
- Technical understanding of assigned commodities
- Remain current on economic, industrial, and other trends that affect market and prices
- Establish and maintain planning factors within a MRP system
- Control purchase order placement, confirmation, and tracking
- Create and run reports to evaluate status of material requirements in relationship to a production schedule
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Applicable supply chain management experience preferred
- Business or technical related degree preferred
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times
- High competency for customer service
