Job Summary:
Superior Machine & Tool, a manufacturing business in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a motivated CNC Operator. This entry-level, full-time position involves safely operating CNC equipment, ensuring quality production, and learning machine setup and maintenance under supervision. A strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and teamwork is required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Operate CNC machinery such as lathes, mills, and Swiss lathes in accordance with blueprints and specifications.
· Measure finished parts using precision tools to ensure they meet functional and quality standards.
· Maintain accurate production logs, documenting units produced, errors, and quality checks.
· Assist in machine setup under supervision, including tool changes and alignment.
· Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area by following shop safety protocols.
· Troubleshoot minor machine issues and notify senior operators or supervisors as needed.
· Support continuous improvement efforts by learning and implementing process optimizations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings.
· Precision Measurement: Proficient in using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
· Machining Fundamentals: Basic understanding of CNC machining operations and equipment.
· Safety Compliance: Awareness of OSHA standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
· Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
· Tooling Knowledge: Familiarity with cutting tools and their proper use.
· Lean Manufacturing Principles: Awareness of workflow optimization and waste reduction.
· Technical Aptitude: Willingness to learn advanced CNC setup techniques.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous manufacturing or machining experience (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods in a machine shop environment.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
· Visual acuity to inspect parts, operate machinery, and read blueprints.
