Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to oversee asphalt projects from estimation to completion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, managing budgets, coordinating with clients and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and leadership capabilities to drive successful asphalt projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating:
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for asphalt paving, milling, and plant-related projects.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and contracts to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
- Provide clients with detailed proposals, including pricing, scope of work, and timelines.
Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee asphalt projects from start to finish.
- Develop project schedules, ensuring timely procurement of materials and workforce allocation.
- Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project specifications and expectations are met.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and report financial performance.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to improve future estimates and operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, estimating, or project management.
- Strong understanding of asphalt plant operations, paving techniques, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and local construction codes.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.
