Project Superintendent Overview
The Project Superintendent is responsible for leading project teams to complete tasks and achieve project goals within established deadlines. Their key responsibilities include managing budgets, advocating for additional resources as needed, and assembling project teams through hiring freelance professionals or selecting staff from within the organization. The Project Superintendent ensures projects remain on track by setting schedules and adjusting them as necessary.
Throughout the project lifecycle, the Project Superintendent maintains communication with staff and clients, monitors progress and makes critical decisions to keep tasks aligned with project goals and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Communication:
- Lead and inspire project teams to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain consistent communication with the production team, crews, clients, and Account Managers.
- Planning & Budgeting:
- Develop long- and short-term plans, set milestones, and adhere to project deadlines.
- Properly plan and utilize the budgeted amounts to ensure each project comes within or under the established budget.
- Project Management:
- Delegate tasks and crews effectively based on skills and project needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, communicating with all relevant individuals to ensure clear cohesion and teamwork between the company and the client.
- Adjust project schedules and targets to accommodate changing needs or available financing.
- Quality Assurance:
- Perform ongoing quality control to maintain project standards and deliverables.
- Schedule and communicate with manufacturer inspectors to walk active or completed projects.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
- Make decisive, strategic choices when presented with multiple paths for project progression.
- Resolve issues that arise, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and goals.

The Project Superintendent provides critical support to Account Managers and Estimators, specifically with:
- Crew Scheduling: Coordinate and maintain staffing schedules for each project.
- Project Timelines: Ensure project schedules and timelines are effectively maintained as established from the clients or contracts.
- Material and Equipment Management:
- Schedule and oversee the delivery of materials from vendors to job sites.
- Assist in ordering project materials and arranging for their timely delivery.
- Handle equipment orders and ensure proper delivery.
- Safety: Prioritize safety across all projects, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
