We are looking for a Machine Shop Floater to support various roles within our shop. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, learning new skills, and contributing to different areas of the production process.
Responsibilities
Production Support:
- Assist machinists and sharpeners with preparing materials for cutting, grinding, and sharpening.
- Operate basic shop tools and equipment under supervision.
- Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Help with the intake and organization of sharpening orders.
Material Handling & Inventory:
- Receive and organize raw materials for machining.
- Move materials and finished products within the shop as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and job progress.
Machine & Shop Cleaning:
- Clean and maintain saw blades, grinding wheels, and other tooling.
- Assist with regular cleaning of machines to ensure smooth operation and prevent buildup.
- Keep the shop floor organized and free of hazards.
- Dispose of metal shavings, dust, and debris properly.
- Maintain general cleanliness in the shop, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces.
Machine Maintenance:
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, such as lubrication and part inspections.
- Assist with minor machine adjustments under supervision.
General Support:
- Assist with order tracking and production scheduling.
- Jump in to support different areas of the shop as needed.
- Help maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, or related environment preferred.
- Ability to operate basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow safety protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different tasks throughout the day.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.66 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
