Job Summary:
The Parts and Service Supervisor is responsible for driving parts & service sales, margin and productivity goals; training and directing Service Technicians; providing a great customer service experience while servicing, repairing trailers and installing towing systems, and other related products; ensuring that parts and supplies are ordered, received and cycle counted; managing the service process and systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead the parts & service team in meeting and exceeding parts & service revenue and margin goals.
- Partner with Store Manager to recruit, interview, hire, and train newly hired department staff.
- Trains new employees in the company’s customer service policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Follow company directives, policies and procedures for inventory control, supply purchasing, labor and other controllable expenses
- Create a culture of safety
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Partner with Store Manager to drive accountability around performance, results and processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Interacts with customers via telephone, email, or in person to provide support and provide helpful and accurate information on products or services.
- Confer with customers to create quotes, write work orders, recommend/sell parts.
- Supervise, train and coach Lot and Service Technicians
- Schedule service jobs with the goal of maximizing productivity and customer satisfaction
- Perform service work on new and used trailers, and trailer tow vehicles when necessary.
- Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
- Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer’s service and parts needs.
- Help customers hook up trailers. Performs visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking etc.)
- Manage the Warranty process by responding to warranty calls and emails.
- Issue parts requests, initiate returned goods, coordinate shipping/delivery to applicable locations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to solve problems, meet customer needs, and flexibility and adaption to change.
- Direct experience/knowledge with trailers.
- Ability to operate Forklifts.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a vehicle inspector license.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Three - five years of experience in a Parts/Services department
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Lifting, standing, bending, or reaching, is required.
- Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) pounds at times.
