The Mill Floater reports to the Operations Manager and Supervisors and is cross-trained and called on to perform various key positions within the mill. The mill floater plays a key role in the Company’s overall performance by working in various areas of the plant’s milling operations to ensure that production and timelines are met regarding processing, loading, and storage of products. The Mill Floater may also be called upon to assist plant management with other production-related activities when and as requested.
Hourly starting pay $23.50/hr plus overtime quarterly and year-end bonuses).

WORK LOCATION: CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates mills to grind mineral products and properly direct milled products to the proper storage tank.
- Maintains dust collectors to operate within mandated parameters, including manual cleaning.
- Maintains proper inventory levels in all bulk tanks.
- Responsible for process control within the milling circuit to ensure the proper median size of the finished product.
- Supervises the milling circuit area at all times while the mill hopper feed belts are in operation.
- Completes and submits all required shift records.
- Performs routine lubrication on equipment, as instructed by management.
- Promptly reports to management any information that could have an impact on the process or quality of Company products.
- Maintains all assigned tools and responsible for housekeeping on and around all mills and the control room.
- Performs all duties safely in accordance with Company procedures and applicable safety requirements.
Warehouse Duties:
- Maintain bagging operation to ensure that bulk milled minerals are properly packaged, weighed, labeled, palletized, shrink wrapped, labeled, stored, and loaded as needed.
- Stack 50-to-100-pound bags on pallets, as needed.
- Maintains packaging schedule dictated by management or other designated personnel.
- Ensures all bagged shipments comply with Company’s standards regarding the materials ordered, pallet size, quantity, and general appearance and all shipments are properly documented.
- Maintains all production records for shift.
- Ensures the warehouse is maintained in a clear and orderly manner.
- Maintains mobile equipment as prescribed by Company and/or industry standards inspection practices.
- Loads of bulk trucks, flat beds and rail cars when and as needed.
- Promptly notifies appropriate management—in advance—when pallets, empty bags, or shrink-materials need to be ordered.
- Maintain the highest level of safety to ensure MSHA regulations are met and exceeded.
Loader Operator Duties:
- Moves crude ore from stockpiles to the crusher system feed hopper.
- Blends crude ore as instructed by plant management.
- Safely operates industrial front end loader.
- Operates all equipment related to the crusher system.
- Assists the Mill Operator in confirming that material is feeding properly from the mill feed hoppers.
- Loads bulk trucks using computerized scale and loading system and proficiently utilizes scale system.
- Properly inspects front end loader at the beginning of each assigned shift, ensuring that fuel, water and oil are at proper levels; checks the brakes and hydraulics; greases the bucket and checks any areas identified by management; and promptly reports all concerns/issues to management, upon discovery.
- Performs all duties safely in accordance with Company procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Supports and participates in the Company’s Quality Management System.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Lead Mill Operator, Operations Manager, or other Company management, including assisting with maintenance and production-related activities, when and as needed.
Maintenance Duties:
- Assists Maintenance Supervisor by performing scheduled lubrication, maintenance, and clean-up (as directed) for all plant equipment.
- Assist with repairs of all plant equipment within the scope of his/her skill level.
- Timely performs mill rebuilds to reduce mill downtime.
- Assists with maintaining and updating required maintenance records for plant equipment.
- Responsible for housekeeping of the tool storage area, the shop area, any work area after the overhaul or repair of equipment or any fabrication projects, lube/oil storage area, diesel tank area, air compressor area, front drive area, and performs breakroom clean up, when and as requested.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and tests plant equipment, machinery, and components.
Rail Load-Out Duties:
- Tracks and monitors the location of rail cars and provides a daily report including all cars in the company including numbers, are in bound and in transit, and communicates with management to ensure that customer delivery expectations are met.
- Operates the Railcar Movers and oversees the movement of rail cars to position them for loading.
- Maintains and organizes the rail spur to maximize car flow and ready out bounds.
- Monitors and documents the loading process to make sure the designated product and weight is loaded into each car.
- Load bulk rail cars, box cars, bulk trucks, and flat beds when and as needed.
- Utilizes electric, air or hand tools to perform adjustments or repairs on equipment as required.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment following manufacturer guidelines.
- Accurately completes reports, inspection lists and repair orders per standard operating procedures.
General Duties:
- Assists plant production personnel, when and as requested by Company management.
- Performs all duties safely in accordance with Company procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Supports and participates in the Company’s Quality Management System.
- A high school diploma or GED, as well as prior mill operation work experience is preferred.
- Prior experience working in an MHSA-regulated environment is a plus.
- Forklift operation certification and work experience are essential.
- Bilingual language abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and the maintenance of a driving record satisfactory to the Company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of crushers, conveyor belts, Raymond mills, front-end loaders, forklifts, bagging machines, greasing equipment, power tools, cutting torches, and basic fabrication concepts.
- Ability to troubleshoot plant equipment used by the Company and to utilize power and manual tools required for the position.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with various audiences.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn unfamiliar mechanical equipment, tools, and machinery and to stay informed of new technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and mathematical skills, with the ability to prepare/analyze data and calculate figures and amounts.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will work in a plant and warehouse environment with frequent exposure to heat, humidity, and inclement weather and frequent exposure to excessive noise, electrical hazards, and hazardous materials, and will work in confined spaces when and as needed.
- On call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to proactively respond to the Company’s operational needs; must be available by cell phone when scheduled to be on call.
- Willingness and ability to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend, including 10–12-hour shifts.
- Overtime is regularly required.
- Will be required to drive to perform tasks for the plant and Company management when and as requested.
