Job Description
Responsible for overseeing Real Estate Solutions' construction projects for the Americas. This includes developing and executing a project strategy, budget, and schedule as well as supervising the activities of the general contractor and subcontractors. This role will manage a team of 4-5 construction managers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading and managing the Construction department within the Americas Region
- Actively working with DHL and customer stakeholders in planning, implementing
- Responsible for preparing bid specifications, submitting bid packages to multiple general contractors and evaluating bid responses in general contractor selection
- Assists Business Development and lead Developer in creating content for Real Estate Solutions customer proposals
- Establishes specification standards and guidelines for region and/or submarkets as necessary
- Ensures compliance with construction terms and conditions as well as meeting customer obligations
- Must communicate with customers, internal stakeholders and government authorities throughout the project lifecycle and resolve an issues or disputes that may arise
- Evaluate and report project performance and outcome for continuous improvement
- Responsible for all constructions best practices and initiatives for the region (e.g. ESG)
- Customer facing with regard to communication on schedules and scope
- Manage effective working relationship with CRE and DSC teams.
- Further develop relationships with preferred landowners, developers, partners and external consultants.
- Provide construction estimates and risk assessment for the BCA process
- Review and evaluate construction bids in accordance with DSC bid process requirements
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with DSC, contractors, authorities and RES global construction community.
- Leads team of construction managers for the Americas. Responsible for oversight, evaluation, and direct reports.
- Shares best practices and acts as an advisor to RES team on construction topics.
Required Education and Experience
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree (or higher) e.g. in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field, required
- Minimum of 10 years of construction management experience in the construction industry, preferable in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Thorough knowledge of construction processes, methods, materials, and standards, required
- The ability to plan, organize, coordinate and control large-scale projects, required
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, required
- Understanding of contract management, procurement, cost estimation and risk management aspects of construction, , required
- Membership in Professional Real Estate/Construction organizations, preferred
