Mission of the Role (What you’ll be doing):
SupplyOne is on an ambitious journey to accelerate growth while embedding a robust sustainability strategy into our operations. Our goal is to achieve science-based targets for our operating facilities and become a carbon-neutral enterprise by 2040. Additionally, we are committed to advancing sustainable packaging solutions to enhance our customers' supply chain sustainability. The Director of Sustainability will spearhead the development, communication, and execution of our sustainability strategy. This role will be integral in aligning our short-term and long-term objectives to balance sustainability and profitability, working across various functions, business units, and geographies.
Key Responsibilities:
General:
- Recommend and implement decarbonization strategy (e.g., Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)):
- Lead the internal process to establish a carbon footprint baseline and set, measure, and manage targets for achieving annual sustainability objectives.
- Collaborate with operations and finance to facilitate energy management goals.
- Coordinate supply chain sustainability partnerships to measure and manage product mix and waste streams.
- Manage relationships with consultants, agencies, and suppliers to implement and document sustainability programs.
- Provide support and reporting to the sales organization for communicating sustainability programs and certifications to customers.
- Promote and market our sustainability program to maintain and attract new business opportunities.
- Curate and communicate sustainable material options and educate the sales organization on sustainable packaging solutions.
Leadership & Alignment:

- Report on all aspects of the Company’s sustainability program, including zero waste roadmap and other high-value sustainability projects and programs.
- Partner with Manufacturing & Operations leaders to translate the sustainability strategy into tangible outcomes.
- Align business units to achieve sustainability goals, fostering deep collaboration across regions and locations.
- Partner with the leadership team to drive operational execution and meet sustainability objectives, including waste and energy reduction and decarbonization.
Strategy and Execution:

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of SupplyOne’s core operations to serve as a subject matter expert on sustainability.
- Identify and prioritize high-value projects and spearhead key strategic investments for achieving zero waste and zero carbon goals.
- Collaborate with Leadership to refine and advance the sustainability vision and mission.
- Lead the ongoing progress toward 2040 goals and drive initiatives across business units.
- Provide insights and research to inform overall business strategies and operating plans.
Collaboration and Communication:

- Communicate sustainability plans, programs, and progress regularly to leaders across the company.
- Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to implement energy reduction and renewable energy projects.
- Develop and lead external partnerships with governments, NGOs, MRFs, and other relevant entities.
- Partner with the CEO and SVP Sales and Marketing to define and execute the company’s communication strategy related to sustainability.
People, Process, and Technology:

- Identify, build, and refine key data and tracking tools to support sustainability objectives.
- Address gaps in resources, processes, and technology and provide recommendations to senior leaders.
- Lead the development and implementation of new tools and systems for tracking and measuring sustainability goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications (What you’ll need to be successful):
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in leading sustainability initiatives and achieving measurable outcomes.
- Strong understanding of decarbonization strategies, science-based targets, and sustainability reporting.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications in sustainability.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
