Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate reading Tutor . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lesson planning and tutoring, with the ability to adapt to various learning styles and needs. This role involves working with an adult man with an intellectual disability improve reading skills. Phonics method preferred. Looking for personalized instruction to help him achieve his goal. Experience in special education, and experience with intellectual disabilities a plus!
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions in reading and reading comprehension.
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary to ensure understanding and retention of material.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages engagement and motivation.
- Collaborate with parents, and other professionals to support development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with family about achievements and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, with a strong understanding of lesson planning
- Familiarity with special education practices is highly desirable.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport
- A patient, compassionate approach to teaching that accommodates diverse learning styles.
