Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Director, of Occupational Health and Workers Compensation who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Director of Occupational Health and Worker's Compensation, you will:
• Responsible for direct supervision of each campus occupational health manager, recruiting and hiring qualified personnel, that represent Adventist values and culture. Ensures occupational health new employees complete the onboarding process with appropriate orientation to the facility and AHC.
• Provide staff with on-going feedback, regular check-in conversations, and formal annual performance reviews as per AHC policy. Cast vision on the Occupational Health service added value to AHC.
• Communicates occupational health and workers’ compensation goals and strategies to AHC leaders and stakeholders. Leads the Workers’ Comp (WC) Claim reviews quarterly with the WC TPA, entity WC point of contact (PoCs), and WC stakeholders. Leads the Annual WC Budget and Performance Review meeting.
• Develops & communicates the annual System Hazard Elimination Plan; communicates and works with entity PoCs and management, strategies & tactics to improve HCW safety and WC cost reductions across the system.
• Monitors AHC entity's compliance against benchmarks on agreed HCW safety metrics and addresses gaps.
• Approves payment for all AHC special fund requests (SFR) over $5000.00 by the Workers’ Comp TPA.
• Approves all Settlements of WC cases legally represented no longer employed at AHC.
• Monthly reviews of all AHC Check Registers and monitor cost.
• Provides quarterly WC Executive Summaries by entity.
• Works with all entity's POCs to ensure consistent adherence to the return-to work policy
• Leads the AHC HCW Flu Prevention Program to achieve 100% vaccination rate for the system. Leads the System HCW Fit testing program as a condition of employment (CoE). Leads system efforts to improve HCW vaccination rates for MMR, VZV, Tdap, and Hep B and regularly monitors & reports compliance.
• Leads the CoE TB testing and surveillance program.
• Leads the Annual AHC Workers’ Comp Budget and Performance Meeting.
• Responsible for developing, and revising, with team feedback the occupational health corporate policies: HCW Workers Compensation Program, Return to Work Program, Ergonomic Plan, Safe Patient Handling-no Manual Lifting, Pre-employment Testing, Substance Abuse, Blood and Body Fluid Exposure, Flu Prevention plan, and other occupational health-related policies.
• Is part of the AHC team that plans for and participates in emergency events.
• Ensures entity standardization for HCW response. Develop and revise system policies addressing HCW response to this type of large-scale emergency.
• Employees and managers are trained, during employee and leader orientation, on the AHC occupational health program, the Worker’s Comp (WC) policy, and the injured worker process following injury.
Qualifications include:

• Working knowledge of applicable state, labor, and OSHA laws. Demonstrated understanding of laws and regulations guiding Occupational and Environmental Health services.
• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• 3 years of occupational health experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• 2 years of supervisory experience
• Current Maryland RN license, professional certification in Occupational Safety and Health preferred
• Active American Heart Basic Life Support certification

Pay Range:
$140,635.76 - $210,953.64In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
