We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting and financial processes, particularly in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions, while working alongside a dynamic and collaborative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
JOB DUTIES
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Assist in receiving, verifying, and processing invoices and employee reimbursement requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and service providers.
- Maintain organized records of all AP transactions and support documentation.
- Reconcile AP-related accounts and assist in resolving discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Support the preparation and issuance of invoices to clients and customers.
- Monitor and track incoming payments, ensuring accurate posting to accounts.
- Assist in following up on overdue accounts and coordinating collection efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of all AR transactions and communications.
Billing:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of billing statements and invoices.
- Ensure billing accuracy by verifying pricing, quantities, and contract terms.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of billing process improvements.
General Ledger:
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closings.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the company.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to a professional setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
- Frequently communicates with others. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
