Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/Or Competencies Required To Successfully Perform The Work:
• Exercises judgment, tact, and discretion in carrying out office operations.
• Maintains confidential records and files.
• Manages and organizes the office of the superintendent.
• Demonstrates advanced proficiency with variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office and desktop publishing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in use of office equipment such as desk top computer, printer, shredder, fax machine, copier, scanner, telephone systems and LCD projectors.
• Demonstrates technical writing abilities including proofreading for accuracy, content, grammar and standard English.
• Responds to in-person and telephone contacts by answering questions or referring them to a district department or the superintendent.
• Prepares for and attends Governing Board meetings and records minutes.
• Establishes and maintains effective office routines such as file management, meeting preparation and leave accountability.
• Demonstrates ability to manage district compliance with records management regulations.
• Compiles complex documents such as monthly reports, annual reports, brochures, etc.
• Demonstrates ability to maintain polite and helpful demeanor in challenging situations.
• Interprets and applies Board rules, regulations, adopted policies and procedures to the public and district personnel.
• Demonstrates effective personal communication.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school district affairs including student information.
• Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment and self-direction with independent project planning.
• Currently or willing to become a notary public.
• Supervises and train others as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required For Entry Into Position:
High school diploma or GED.
Two year training program in office management/related area or extensive experience in business administration or related field or two years of college, preferred.
Experience providing clerical and administrative support to executive level staff.
Excellent word processing and writing skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in routine and in difficult situations.
Ability to plan, coordinate and work with a variety of individuals and groups.
