Editorial Writer
The Los Angeles Times has an opening for a full-time member of the editorial board. The principal duties are to research, report, pitch and write unsigned editorials as well as participate in editorial board discussions. State and local issues will be a primary focus of this position, but the writer should also be prepared to contribute on a variety of topics in the news.
The ideal candidate is a clear thinker and a powerful writer, able to present complex arguments in a concise way. Editorials require nuance, logic and intellectual honesty, but they also need to be authoritative and engaging. Responsibilities :
- Write and report editorials to meet daily deadlines.
- Research and pitch editorials to the board on a daily basis.
- Attend meetings and engage with policymakers and newsmakers.
- Attend and participate in regular editorial board meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Adhere to the company's editorial ethics guidelines and all company policies regarding employee conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.

The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $91,354 to $122,117 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs. Compensation will be determined based on the above factors along with the requirements of the position.
