Job Duties
The GDC Payments Deputy Clerk (grade 8) within the Fairfax County General District Court’s Payment team provides the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge of the day-to-day operations of an urban court and the Virginia judicial process. The candidate must be committed to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population, enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-volume office with tight deadlines, and thrive in a results-oriented, teamwork environment.

All employees receive a 15% county salary supplement in addition to the state salary.
The Deputy Clerk in this position is responsible for a wide range of clerical responsibilities including, but not limited to, accepting payments on prepaid and unpaid cases; issuing DC-30 reinstatement forms; updating case information in the court’s case management and financial systems; scanning documents in the court’s imaging system, completing amended abstracts for the Division of Motor Vehicles; processing and sorting mail; receipting case papers and preparing daily deposits. The clerk will also be responsible for processing garnishment payments; verifying and auditing fines and costs assessments; performing data entry; producing court correspondence; answering phone inquiries; filing; and archiving. More than half of an employee’s time is spent serving the public at a counter window and/or over the phones. This position also requires the performance of other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
