Job Duties
Job Summary – The Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia, is seeking a Receptionist/Office Assistant in a high-profile and professional office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Answering and correctly routing large numbers of incoming telephone calls on multiple lines; opening, sorting and distributing large volumes of mail; logging incoming checks and money orders; processing outgoing mail and UPS; oversight of office equipment maintenance and manage meter balances; greeting visitors and guests and connecting them with the appropriate person; assisting Executive Assistant as requested; and other general office duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, excellent oral and written communication skills, and outstanding telephone skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work rapidly under short deadlines are also necessary. The ability to deal with persons at the highest levels of state government, including judicial and legislative leaders, while handling confidential information is critical. Good knowledge of general office procedures and the ability to act as a liaison for other entities interfacing with the Supreme Court are important. The successful candidate should be excellent at multi-tasking and follow-up, possess the ability to learn quickly, and work independently and also within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft, including Outlook, Word and Excel, are essential.
