Job Title: Production Manager
Department: Supervisory Production
Reports To: Site Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers engaged in machine operating to fabricate a variety of products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for maintaining product quality standards.
Recognizes and solves problems affecting production including schedules, staff, quality and order of production sequence in conjunction with the supply chain department.
Interprets company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations and drives organization and cleanliness.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
Conducts weekly meetings with work crew to disseminate information and share work related issues after QA meeting review.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Confers with Supervisors and Leads to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Positions staff to drive and monitor on-time delivery on a daily basis through constant communication with Supervisors, Leads and Supply Chain.
Trouble-shoots problems and handle exception in the production area.
Drives product quality throughout organization and support customer satisfaction goal through:
- Training
- Quality qualifying Supervisors, Leads and employees
- Working with other departments – Quality, Engineering
- Attend weekly Quality meeting
Plans and assigns workload.
Selects, develops, trains, monitors and reviews staff.
Makes recommendations for hiring, performance decisions and discipline up to and including termination.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Site Director or Executive Team
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years working in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years of MFG leadership experience, required
- B.S. degree in business, engineering, or equivalent work experience, required
- Leadership of teams and projects experience, required
- Experience in creating, measuring, and interpreting value-added metrics in manufacturing environments in order to drive performance and throughput improvement, required
- Fluent with standard computer office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Problem solving skills and a high attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced factory environment requiring PPE to be worn daily
- Kaizen and lean manufacturing experience, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Requires walking primarily on a level surface periodically throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or ability to lift up to 40 lbs as required throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain conditions require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
