This role is responsible for the upfitting of new vehicles into innovative solutions for a wide range of markets. This position performs mechanical, fabrication, fluid power and electrical work in a line build or bay build model. Full-time Position Monday - Thursday 10 hour days. (Friday's OFF!) Primary Responsibilities
- Assemble or upfit specialty vehicle components to customers specification.
- Install new truck bodies, such as dump bodies, platforms, service bodies, or van bodies onto chassis.
- Install or assemble interior shelving and components for specialty use cargo van or box trucks.
- Run electrical or hydraulic lines for functions such as lighting, dump body, lift gates, or plows on a vehicle.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with truck equipment as part of service or warranty work.
- Maintain basic to advanced skills in assembly, 110V or 12V electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication.
- Perform detailed, standardized quality control stage gates during production and report or correct defects.
- Read and interpret order intake forms, work instructions, layout drawings, or customer specifications in English.
- Adhere to 5S standards in production.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in production area.
- Recommend improvements to sustain high levels of quality and efficiency in production.
- Be accountable and contribute positively to production utilization and efficiency goals.
- Ensure process discipline to Standard Operating Procedures within Production Order Management Systems.
- Approach all internal customer requests and scenarios with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Maintain basic knowledge of scheduling tools such as visual boards and be accountable to production functions within these tools.
- Maintain safe and smart work practices at all times.
- Perform general building tasks as required or assigned, such as vehicle movements, equipment maintenance, cleaning/housekeeping, or safety checks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Installing all equipment necessary to modify new vehicles into a wide range of service vehicles. This includes assembling truck bodies, routing and installing wire harnesses, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, ladder racks, shelving, wall liners, and floors. Disassembling and reassembling factory vehicles.
Qualifications
Certification Training Offered by Employer if not already obtained
- NTEA 101, NTEA 201 Required *Complete in Year 1 if not already Certified
- ASE E1, E2, and/or E3 Recommended
- Forklift Certification Recommended
- English Language (read/write fluently)
- 2 years Automotive Technician experience required.
- 2 years Aftermarket add-on/Upfitting experience required.
- Current valid driver's license required.
- Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
- Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
- Ability to read drawings, including electrical schematics, layout drawings, and work orders with limited help.
- Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.
Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have completed at least two years, preferably graduated, from a four-year trade school, vocational high school or equivalent, with courses in general shop and automotive repair. Consideration will also be granted to those with a valid mechanic’s license or who are ASE Automotive Technician or EVT Emergency Vehicle Technician certified.
Physical Demands:
- Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working in an industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties.
- Work will involve frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling.
