Position Description:
This role supports the engineering team in driving new product development and revenue growth. It involves working directly with internal/external customers to provide innovative solutions for new product development and introduction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting design for manufacturing, applications engineering, tooling & process design, and production support/troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
• Design plastic profile extrusion tools and process design
• Complete projects on-time/on-budget according to specifications for a smooth transition from prototype to production
Engineering Support:
• Support engineering development, cost estimating, and process engineering teams as needed
• Strengthen the company's manufacturing and engineering capabilities as a competitive advantage and business differentiator
Continuous Improvement:
• Participate in ongoing continuous improvement projects, business planning, and capital project identification and implementation
Competencies/Skills:
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in SolidWorks is required
• Excellent communication skills for internal and external customer interaction
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with capacity for management
• Hands-on approach
• Leadership and project management skills
• CFD (Extrusion Flow analysis) skills are desired
• Experience with IQMS or related ERP System is a plus
Education and Experience:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology – Mechanical preferred
• 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• 3 years of experience developing Co-Ex/Tri-Ex complex profile extrusion tools/processes, including profile vacuum sizing and various in-line cutting
• Broad knowledge of polymer materials, including:
PP/PPTD40/TPO's
TPV's
TPE's
Extruded Low-Friction coatings
Metal Carrier/Wire/String supported extrusions
