What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Consulting Safety/Equipment Analyst position at Surf To Snow?
We are looking for a motived, entry-level Safety/Equipment Analyst to join our team! This full-time, hourly position is located in our San Ramon office. In this position, you will support our Chief Safety Officer on safety projects and tasks, and our technical teams by managing company equipment and assets. This is an excellent opportunity to become familiar with safety work and grow in your safety career with us. S2S will support you in your effort to earn a CHST or other applicable safety certification.
No environmental industry or safety experience needed – we’ll teach you what you need to know to be successful.
Some local travel may be required. You will also need your own reliable transportation to and from work, including any field work.
Responsibilities include:
Manage equipment
- Managing S2S's equipment database, including adding new equipment, assigning new equipment to staff/projects, add new employees, track calibration of equipment, alert when new equipment needs to be purchased, and survey staff on equipment status/function
- Ensure equipment area is kept tidy, items are returned back to proper location in office
- Maintain project-specific equipment bins/boxes, inventory annually, coordinate with team/project leads
- Calibrate PG&E pH pens and Turbidity Meters on weekly basis and for project use
- Maintain calibration records
- Maintain equipment and safety supply lists and inventory, alert when new supplies or equipment solutions are necessary
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers, including ensuring proper administrative steps are taken prior to and after use by staff.
- Track S2S vehicles, including ensuring vehicles are in good working order and tracking oil changes, tires, fluids, etc.
Support safety
- Manage S2S's safety training systems, including adding new staff and removing terminated staff
- Communicate and distribute safety trainings to staff
- Track staff certifications
- Track safety training compliance and coordinate safety trainings as needed to maintain compliance
- Assist with creating trainings in ISN using new training tool (can upload S2S trainings and quizzes)
- Track and restock first aid kits, both those in office and assigned to staff
- Track and inspect fire extinguishers, both those in office and assigned to staff
- Track prequalification requirements for subcontractors, including:
- ensuring data is up to date
- ensure safety evaluations are scheduled and occurring as required
- completing annual safety review for all subcontractors
- conduct annual review with S2S project managers on performance of subcontractors
- Conduct safety observations in the field of S2S staff and subcontractors for various work streams
- Provide safety trainings to small groups of S2S employees on an as needed basis when new trainings are necessary for compliance
- Work with Chief Safety Officer to update safety policies when conditions change or as required by client(s)
- Work with Chief Safety Officer to annually update the Programmatic Safety Plan
- Complete or Coordinate Completion of Site-Specific Safety Plans for all field work projects
- Completed safety reporting requirements, as required by S2S and clients
- Review Weekly Safety Debrief/Near Miss forms
- Gather safety statistics to share quarterly and annually with leadership and at all hands meetings
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in safety
- Highly detail oriented and accountable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong organization skills with ability to manage concurrent responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree in relevant field
- Safety experience
- Experience with data entry and/or data QA/QC
