The Press Operator is responsible for cutting shapes and strips of abrasive material to be used for other products and processes throughout the plant. The Atom/ Beam and Jeffrey Press operators runs the die cutting equipment from set-up to packaging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Arrange orders by size to reduce set up.
- Review order information to ensure correct material, size, length, quantity and any special instructions with the order are followed
- Place material on un-wind stand. This is a manual feed pulling the material across the table or die.
- Material length/pattern is controlled by the die size/length
- Operator will set the pressure head
- Operator will use dual hand controls to operate the swivel head press
- Ability to read the manufacturing order for the requested products.
- Programs the Atom Press based off of that order.
- Places large rolls onto the die cutting machine
- After production must package the product accordingly
- Use of a computer to create and print the shipping labels.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Proficient mechanical skills
- Ability to preform computer set ups based on customer needs
- Ability to read a ruler
- Very detail oriented and good at multi-tasking
- Excellent attendance
- Good attitude
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills and basic ruler measurements knowledge.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift Certification preferred as the Atom Press requires daily usage. Internal training is provided.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands for Clicker Operator require the ability to lift 10 lbs worth of abrasive materials. The Atom Beam and Jeffrey Press require the ability to lift 25-50 lbs of abrasive materials. Employees must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time during shifts with frequent forward and overhead reaching. Use of dexterity in hands is frequent and intermittent during shift. Occasional interaction with vibrating materials. The ability to correctly wear the personal protective equipment required daily.
