Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join our team. The QA Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality control and assurance within our food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food safety regulations, quality management systems, and experience managing a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities:
- You will develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, FSMA, etc.).
- Organize, coordinate monitor and champion the Quality System and Food Safety Systems in accordance with SQF 9.0 Edition requirements.
- As a PCQI Practitioner for the site, you will oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF 9.0 Edition programs with annual review, and you’ll be responsible for validating any changes to the Food Safety and Food Quality plans.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors during inspections and audits.
- Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
- Provide Leadership and support to ensure all our internal and external processes are fully capable of delivering premium products to customers on a timely basis.
- Manage and mentor a team of quality assurance technicians, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Ensure employees have adequate knowledge of GMPs and Food Safety programs and supervise that training is completed and is effective.
- Lead root-cause investigation for Non-Compliance Reports, coordinate with internal teams on corrective actions and documentation.
- Ensure customer specifications are being met and manage complaint investigations and customer responses.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with production and purchasing to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with plant management to track plant Quality performance through KPIs.
- Maintain documentation and records related to quality control activities, including test results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Food Science.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control roles within the food manufacturing industry or experience in related field.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems (e.g., FSMA, FDA, USDA, SQF, HACCP).
- Experience managing a team of quality assurance professionals in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with a problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficient personal computer skills (record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
- Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, HACCP) is a plus.
