Summary:
The Floor Inspector is responsible for conducting a variety of mechanical tests and visual inspections on parts to ensure that each unit functions according to specifications. This role ensures the quality of products meets industry standards and contributes to the overall efficiency and safety of the production process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read Blueprints and Plans: Review blueprints, work orders, process plans, quality plans, and performance specifications to determine the appropriate testing procedures and equipment required.
- Inspect and Record Data: Perform inspections on parts according to the control plan, documenting the results on inspection reports.
- Compare Results with Specifications: Ensure that test results meet specifications and record the data accordingly, either on inspection reports or through graphical representations.
- Analyze Data: Input data into Statistical Process Control (SPC) software, and analyze the results for any trends or issues.
- Document Defects: Record defects on product tags and return the units to the production department for necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work with engineers, technicians, and production staff to discuss testing procedures, results, and potential solutions to problems.
- Employee Training: Provide training to employees on quality standards and procedures.
- Data Collection for Safety Features: Collect data related to the product’s safety features and ensure compliance.
Qualification Requirements:
- Document Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Report Writing: Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence clearly.
- Public Speaking: Ability to effectively communicate with customers or groups of employees.
- Mathematical Competence: Proficiency in using mathematical concepts like probability, statistical inference, basic geometry, and trigonometry.
