Jr. Database Administrator (MS SQL)
Summary:
A Jr. Database Administrator (MS SQL) will work closely with the Database Project Manager to improve and build on existing database infrastructure, as well as support, maintain and troubleshoot MS SQL databases and components. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting technical and user issues as they relate to MS SQL and the company staffing solutions. The Jr. Database Administrator will seek out and define data from various sources and assist the Data Analytics Team with interpreting data, mapping data sources and assists in turning data into information which can offer ways to improve a business, thus affecting business decisions. Once data has been gathered and interpreted, the Jr. Database Administrator (MS SQL) will report back what has been found in a comprehensive study to the wider business/relevant colleagues via various published formats of reports or filters on existing reports.
Primary Functions:
- Supports the Database Project Manager in developing and maintaining SQL Server maintenance plan, performance, security, backup and recovery provisions.
- Provide on-site database and system support.
- Monitor, collect statistical information and provide reporting on capacity and system performance.
- Maintain database backups and transaction logs.
- Collect, consolidate and analyze financial data, taking into account company's goals and financial standing.
- Mapping data sources for future usage.
- Gathering, assembling, and summarizing data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks.
- Support the development of financial organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Supports the establishment of financial operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service data; designing data systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
- Support the organization by analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement
- Additional Duties Assigned
Qualifications:
- Preferred: A bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or Economics and/or equivalent work experience
- 2 yrs progressive experience with MS SQL
- 2 years experience required providing technical support, covering database administration and operations including: monitoring, maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
- 2 years of analyzing datasets and comprehensive reporting
- Manage stakeholder relationships within one or more business areas by spending routine time with designated business parties to understand their needs.
- Understand Core tenants of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) principles, processes, technologies and tools including management.
- Experience with database access and documentation
- Ability to analyze large datasets
- Strong verbal and written skills
