- The Quality Inspector is selected by the Quality Manager and reports to the Quality Manager.
- Immediate opening full-time position for an experienced Quality Inspector for a well-established family owned company on the west side of Cleveland.
- We are searching for a motivated, energetic, knowledgeable Inspector who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with many responsibilities.
- Must be able to read and analyze customer industrial mechanical blueprints and interpret AS 9100 D / ISO 9001:2015 Quality System Standards. Also, must be able to use visual inspecting equipment (e.g., comparator, calipers, micrometers) with knowledge and understanding of these measuring tools. Able to effectively communicate in written and verbal forms with all levels of the organization. Ability to coordinate, facilitate and understand the preparation of customer documentation as directed.
- The ideal candidate would have experience inspecting springs, wire forms, assemblies and skilled at debugging spring -making set-ups. Also, will be skilled at various computer software (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and spring force scale set-up. They would be experienced in the preparation of PPAPs, FAIRs, SPC, MSA, familiar with AS9100 and able to hit the ground running.

EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
Requires:
- One or more years' experience as production operator. Experience with Quality System standards for various business types
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Able to read and interpret blue prints and customer drawings.
- Able to utilize various types of measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ability to listen courteously and effectively communicate in a clear professional manner, in English, both verbal and written, in an effort to create a positive working environment.
- Ability to effectively plan and carry out the activities associated with the Quality System.
- Ability to operate various computer programs found in a Quality System environment.
Job Description Continued Quality Inspector
- Must be willing to accept training and be able to pass examination to improve professional skills.
- Must remain independent in thought and neutral in attitude in case of any dispute regarding the Quality System.
PHYSICAL
This position will be working primarily indoors and/or may also require the employee to occasionally be in the outdoors. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures. The normal auto and air travel hazards will apply. The noise level in the work environment is usually high due to the proximity of production equipment, but can be lower in the other areas of the building
- Mobility is required within the office and plant areas
- Vehicle and air travel to and from other locations, as a representative of the company is required.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment in factory areas as required.
- Command of speech and hearing sufficient to effectively communicate are required of this position.
- A method of computer use is required for purposes of completing certain tasks and duties.
- Files must be maintained in a state of sufficiently organized to assure prompt retrieval.
- Hearing - must be able to respond to telephone calls, face to face interactions and other sounds related to a manufacturing environment.
- Vision - near vision to type on computer, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and the ability to analyze the quality of goods.

- The hours worked are normally 40 hours per week however position requires additional time given the nature of activities scheduled.
- Weekend and holiday work may be necessary, but are not normal.
- Some activities require movement from building to building in undesirable or dangerous weather conditions.
AUTHORITY
- Stands/stoops/crouches when needed.

- Reports on the performance of the Quality System first to Quality Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Quality Inspector include:
- 6.1.1 Able to perform all duties, responsibilities and requirements of a Production Operator.
- 6.1.2 Complete first piece inspection requirements, floor or bench and last piece inspection of product.
- Responsible for release of product to warehouse.
- Perform internal audit as assigned by Quality Coordinator.
- Operate calipers, micrometer, height gauge, comparator, scales, and other various inspection equipment.
- Utilizes the basic principles of quality control and the principles charts used in process inspection.
- Creates control charts when required and implements inspection plans and procedures.
- Interprets and understands customer requirements.
- Ability to inspect and complete necessary documentation when receiving purchased product and outside processed goods.
- Participate on Corrective/Preventative Action team to review customer complaints (product return).
- Schedule or assist in training as required by upper management for quality issues such as the implementation of new or revised quality policies or procedures.
- Reports to Quality Manager on status and activities within inspection.
- Trains various groups and individuals on varying subjects relating to the Quality System policies, procedures and job instructions. Verifies results by objective written verification of acceptance of training such as oral or written quizzes or examinations.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
- The Quality Inspector shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
- The Quality Manager is kept apprised of all activities.
- Accurate and complete inspection records of each work order.
- Certifications and any required attachments are accurately prepared for customer shipments of product.
- Quality System is maintained in a state of auditable readiness within one (1) business day.
- QA Office and equipment are maintained orderly for meetings and other company activities at all times.
- Understands Company policies and procedures.
- Other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager are performed in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
- The perceived degree of satisfaction by the Quality Manager.
