temporary Warehouse Assistant: Grand Rapids, MI
4–6-week assignment for a temporary Warehouse Assistant
Pay Rate: $18 an hour
SCOPE: This is a hands-on role, in the warehouse, with loading trucks and preparing for the next day delivery. Continually look for efficiencies and cost savings. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager. Hours: Monday-Friday from 6:00AM-3:00PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to, the following. (Other duties may be assigned). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Assist with preparation of orders to be delivered by BBC, for customer pickup, and orders shipping out via other carriers, and on BBC trucks.
- Load BBC trucks for next day delivery.
- Assist as needed with unloading freight; stock of product; rotation of product and inventory control/cycle counting.
- Cross train in various Warehouse activities/tasks.
- Assist with deliveries as needed.
- All Safety/HR training must be completed within timelines required.
- Keeping BBC business related issues confidential to BBC as well as affiliate companies. Embrace and promote programs adopted by BBC for development of company and team, including Vision, Mission and Core Values.
- Miscellaneous projects and tasks as needed.
- Responsible for timely responses and utilization of the communication tools available. To arrive to work on time and ready to work; attends, participates and arrives on time to meetings when scheduled.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION: Forklift License.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and professionally before individual customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance as needed. Push and pull from 10-400 pounds, and operate auto scrubbers, vacuums, wet/dry vacs, extractors, sweepers, floor machines, and other janitorial cleaning equipment and bar beverage equipment. (Approximate weight from 10 to 1000 pounds). May need to occasionally use ramp and push or pull janitorial equipment, food service equipment or other equipment up the ramp, with assistance by other personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and stress management.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Familiarity with computers and scanners preferred.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Forklift, dollies, pallet jacks, platform truck, pull chains, blankets and other equipment associated with truck driving and delivery needs. Possible use of power tools such as drills and screwdrivers and other hand tools. Possible handling of batteries, chargers, and motors.
