Contingent – Days 8:30AM to 5PM
Must be able to work Weekdays/Saturdays and Sundays

Role/Position Definition: Provides physical therapy services to patients impaired by physical dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of the treatment plan based on the functional needs of the patient. Provides supervision for PTA and students.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
A. Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school required.
2 years of PT experience preferred.
B. Licensure/Certification
Current unrestricted Physical Therapist licensure from the State of Michigan required.
C. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Physical ability to bend, position and transfer patients and exert forces up to 70 lbs.
Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and families.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to exercise professional judgment and initiative when analyzing problems
and recommending solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Conducts screenings and evaluations to determine the patient’s physical status.
B. Develops and implements treatment plans to reach patient’s highest potential for independence.
C. Provides direct patient care to facilitate the restoration of physical and functional abilities.
D. Checks, instructs, assigns, reviews and supervises the work of the Physical Therapy Assistants and students.
E. Participates in patient care conferences, program development and screenings as appropriate.
F. Completes appropriate documentation and adheres to policies, procedures and current standards of clinical practice.
G. Provides documentation in a legible manner to maintain the quality of the medical record as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy and facility requirements.
H. Participates in team and family conferences as necessary.
I. Provides in-services to other staff members on physical therapy as it relates to patient care.
J. Coordinates with the Occupational Therapist that the patient has the appropriate equipment while in the facility and for discharge home.
K. Performs home evaluations to ensure the patient’s home environment is conducive for a safe discharge plan.
L. Adheres to professional standards of practice of the APTA for Physical Therapists.
M. Promotes current standards of clinical practice through taking part in continuing education and in-service programs.
N. Participates in program development.
O. Performs all other duties as assigned.
