Sterile Processing Technician
Full Time - Days / 10AM to 6:30PM

We have since become the premier center of choice with 30 surgical beds, 26 rehabilitation beds, and 6 operating rooms.
Surgeons Choice Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Sterile Processing Technician. An ideal candidate has a passion to serve people to improve their quality of life and empower them on their health journey.
Role/Position Definition: Under general supervision is responsible for the collection, decontamination, sterilization, and storage and distribution of surgical instrumentation and supplies for the organization. Demonstrates ability to perform all duties required of a Sterile Processing Technician while following government regulations, AAMI guidelines, AOA requirements, and SCMC policies.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
Education/Experience
- Associate of Applied Science degree in related field or completion of an approved Sterile Processing course.
- 1-2 Years of Sterile Processing experience, with a concentration in orthopedic and spine equipment strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Approved Sterile Processing Technician certification, CSPDT or CRCST, OR approved certified surgical technologist, CST certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers, from the American Heart Association required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
- Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility or health care organization as needed.
- Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
- Operate equipment used in the sterile processing areas safely and according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
- Monitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing areas.
- Prepare and distribute surgical case carts according to physician’s preference lists and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
- Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services.
- Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
- Exhibit professional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Assist with improving the quality of sterile processing services.
- Assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
