Surgical Technologist *Sign-On Bonus* Full Time

We are looking for an experienced Surgical Technologist to assist staff in the operating room. This is a full-time benefits-eligible position working 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday 4 days per week (occasional night and weekend call). The ideal candidate is comfortable working with orthopedic, neurosurgery (adult and some pediatric) and ENT patients. 

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the highest quality nursing care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminating manner, sensitive to patient needs
• Contribute to the team-oriented environment by demonstrating cooperative, constructive, problem-solving interaction with coworkers
• Will be managing instrument disbursement to the surgeon during procedures/operations. These may include large or very delicate instruments. Will be responsible for "safe guarding" the table.
• Understands anatomy and can follow the surgeons instructions.
• Will be working in a clean, well-lighted area. May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.
• Decontaminate, inspect, and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization used during surgical procedures. Assist in preparing supplies for next day’s procedures.
• Possess basic knowledge of medications used during the operating procedure (except those used by anesthesia). Proper handling and identification of medications is demonstrated. Errors are properly documented. Will not administer medication.
• Function effectively in an emergency situation or when under stress. Remain calm and follow direction.

Requirements:

• High School graduate with satisfactory completion of an Operating Room Technician program.
• Current BLS certification; Preferred Surgical Technician Certification.
• One year of Operating Room experience in the last 3-5 years preferred.
• Will be standing, walking and stooping for extended periods of time without relief during procedures/surgeries. Will assist with transferring of patient/large pieces of equipment, requiring ability to frequently lift 40 lbs.
• Assist with transfer of patients as necessary.
