We are looking for a medical assistant with experience working in a healthcare setting to join our team. This position will assist our General Surgeons in their busy office practice including but not limited to rooming patients, taking vitals, triaging patient phone calls, scheduling surgeries, coordinating referrals/testing, assisting with form completion and requesting insurance authorizations. Knowledge of computers is a must because we use an electronic medical record and accurate data entry is an expectation for this position. This position is full-time Monday-Friday (38 hours/week) with medical, dental, and vision benefits, pension after one year and no working nights, major holidays or weekends. Medical experience/knowledge is preferred.
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care and assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position is based in an office setting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate with accurate and complete documentation
- Assist with patient examinations and office procedures under the supervision of healthcare professionals; collect and prepare specimens for testing
- Assist with patient education and provide instructions on medication usage and pre/post-surgical care both in person and over the telephone
- Scheduling appointments, testing, and surgeries at many other healthcare facilities; managing patient records and forms; and obtaining insurance authorizations through telephone, internet or form completion
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical terminology and knowledge of anatomy
- Strong patient care skills and ability to provide emotional support to patients
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
