What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Coding Specialist (Full-time) position at Surgical Associates, PC?
Busy physician's office seeking a FT coding specialist. Duties include coding office visits and procedures using current CPT and ICD-10 coding standards, review and process medical bills and claims for accuracy and completeness, ensure timely submission of claims to insurance companies, follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resubmit as necessary, collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues, stay updated on changes in medical coding and billing regulations, answering and direct phone calls, schedule patients for appointments, speak to referring physician’s offices and enter demographic and patient information into our practice management software and electronic medical record.
Candidate must have previous experience in medical billing and coding, needs to be proficient with CPT and ICD-10 procedure codes and working with medical insurance carriers. Certification in procedural coding is not required, but would be helpful along with other training such as Medical Assistants or advanced degrees in medical office skills. Previous experience with Allscripts medical software is preferred.
