Accountabilities / Responsibilities

$1,500 Sign-On Bonus

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Ensures operational excellence and quality of care in the diagnostic and surgical department.
    • Demonstrates use of proper anatomical positioning and understanding of physiological and technical factors.
    • Facilitates reading of films by radiologist in an efficient, effective manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment and radiation safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
    • Maintains general condition of radiology equipment.
    • Utilizes radiation monitoring devices at all times.
    • Performs proper radiation safety precautions to include providing protection and inquiring if females of child-bearing age are pregnant.
    • Periodically checks and coordinates independent inspection of the department radiation protection devices.
    • Conducts exams in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates continued competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing developmental perspective.
    • Displays an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in the assessments, treatments, and care undertaken.
    • Appropriately modifies approach to patients based upon patient’s age utilizing a developmental perspective.
    • Provides appropriate interventions related to safety issues.
    • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance programs.
  • Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques.
  • Completes company annual continuing educational requirements.

PRODUCTIVITY

  • Provides radiology services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Provides radiology reports to the nursing units per physician request.
    • Prioritizes patient needs.
  • Documents services provided in a thorough and effective manner.
    • Communicates patient reports to the appropriate personnel and assists in resolution of issues.
    • Maintain accurate records of patient images sent to physician’s offices/ hospitals outside the facility.
  • Submits film badges for evaluation of cumulative exposure in timely fashion.
  • Utilizes time effectively, plans for ups and downs in patient volume.
  • Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up-to-date information in accordance with established standards.
  • Adheres to established facility/ departmental safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Demonstrates competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities.
    • Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
    • Completes all employee/ patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy.
    • Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for department and facility.
    • Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ATTENDANCE

  • The essential functions of the job require attendance at the workplace. Employee follows established corporate and hospital policies and procedures regarding attendance.
  • Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility.
  • Provides notification of unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by administrator/ designee.
  • Requests time off according to procedure as noted by administrator/ designee.

COMMUNICATION

  • Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care.
  • Interacts with all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional facility environment. a.
    • Displays a caring and responsive attitude, and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations.
    • Maintains confidentiality of all facility and patient information as required by facility policy.
    • Fosters a positive and professional facility environment by interacting with all people in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner and by participating as a team member.
    • Diffuses/ resolves conflicts by appropriately communicating with those involved.
    • Accepts constructive criticism and gives suggestions in a professional manner.
    • Considers age-specific needs in communication.

PROFESSIONALISM

  • Supports and demonstrates SCA corporate values by developing a personal understanding of the values. 2. Supports the goals and objectives of the hospital and Medical Imaging Department.
  • Exhibits excellent customer relations by demonstrating cooperation, courtesy, and respect when interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Respects dignity and rights of the patients and coworkers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient, department, and hospital information.
  • Neat, clean, and dresses according to department dress code.

Qualifications

License or Certification:

  • Required certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or applicable state licensure. BLS required. CEU credits maintained

Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:

  • Graduated from an accredited school of Radiology Technology. A minimum of one to two years of radiological/x-ray experience preferred.
