Role Summary: The Lead Technician serves as one of the primary point of contact within an account, for one or more hospitals/locations, and are accountable for ensuring effective and quality service, in a compliant manner. They supervise a team of Surgical Solutions Technician(s) assigned to a hospital or set of hospitals, and are responsible for performance management, scheduling, timekeeping and other management roles. They may also assist/work with the Account Supervisor or Manager as needed. They also serve as an integral member of the Opreating Room while actively assisting in daily operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model a high standard of performance to staff and peers.
- Understand procedures being performed and anticipating the needs of surgeons, while ensuring a high level of service to staff during operative procedure
- Assure maintenance of the sterile field
- Demonstrate a high caliber of skill in: pre-operative setup, intra-oeprative technical and customer support, post-operative turnover.
- Maintain high standards for decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Maintain all laparoscopic equipment and replace as needed; process repairs for instruments and scopes
- Maintains currents preference cards for surgeons
- Maintains a professional level of service, and remains on good, professional terms with all OR staff
- Punctual at all times, and is available for all shifts, along with on call hours
- Ensures the team provides stellar customer service at all times.
- Organize room assignments and Technician roles.
- Communicate with SPD Lead for turnover of instruments.
- Assist with trainings and inservices.
- Receive and create daily schedule.
- Communicate with vendor reps for technical assistance.
- SCMP responsibilites include: ensureing SCMP accuracy, assist with approvals in SCMP, ensuring case entry in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma/GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Certifications: Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician required
- Previous Experience: 3-5 years of Operating Room experience. 3-5 years frontline supervisory experience required. Prior span of control 2-15 FTE direct reports. Prior Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience preferred
- Outstanding customer service skills, ability to build and maintain strong rapport with hospital teams
- Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Possess excellent leadership skills; ability to effectively build teams and direct the work of others
- Ability to quickly and accurately anticipate needs, and appropriately respond
- Experience with Microsoft Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel
- Availability for 24/7 hospital coverage including weekday, weekend, and holiday rotational scheduled and on-call shifts
