What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Assistant- General surgery experience or vascular / vein experience preferred position at Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, P.A.?
The Clinical Assistant is responsible for supporting primarily our vascular surgeons in all areas of treatment by providing patients with compassionate high-quality care. They may also be responsible for supporting general surgeons. This is a very fast-paced, high-volume office.
In this clinic setting you will be assisting the physician with wound care to patients to include Unna boots, profore wraps, pulling drains, suture / staple removal. Additionally, we preform sterile procedures such as excisions, lesions removals, I&D, and CVC catheter removal. The clinical assistant will also be responsible for assisting the vascular surgeon with the Vascular Procedures, such as Radiofrequency Ablation, Venaseal, Varithena and Phlebectomy.
- Escort each patient to an exam room, review patient’s medical history and reason for visit.
- Take patient’s vital signs reconcile medications and allergies during every office visit
- Assist physician(s) with in-office procedures.
- Obtain consent forms for all office procedures.
- Triage patient telephone calls and act according to your scope. Document your conversation with the patient in the E H R telephone template for physician’s review and approval.
- Coordinate follow-up care with SSC practitioners and outside providers.
- Check report to ensure that notes are sent to referring practice.
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled and transported to the appropriate laboratory
- Coordinate scheduling of radiology orders / scans.
- Work with 3rd party vendor on patients’ disability forms.
- Call surgical patients post operatively to ensure that patient is doing well and to answer any questions they may have regarding their care. Document the conversation with the patient in the E H R telephone template for physician’s review and approval.
- Monitor physician’s PAQ.
- Clean and stock room at the end of the day of each physician’s office.
- Soak instruments, package instruments for autoclave, run autoclave.
- Empty bio-hazardous cans as needed.
- Acknowledgement and willingness to work in other locations as may be needed from time to time.
- Follow company policies, OSHA and HIPAA standards and guidelines.
- Perform strategic and tactical functions and will do whatever is required to model outstanding customer service toward our patients, clients and staff.
