What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vascular Ultrasound Technician position at Surgical Specialists of Southwest Florida?
We are looking for a registered Ultrasound Technologist to join our practice Part-time (Monday(full day), Tuesday(half day), Wednesday(full day) Friday (half day). The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who has a certificate in vascular sonography. We run an upbeat office with 8 physicians and four physician assistants. The successful applicant will be responsible for seeing 10-15 patients per day. The applicant will also communicate clearly and frequently with our team to ensure the highest level of care for our patients. This is currently a part-time position with potential to become a full-time position with a growing and successful Vascular practice.
Ultrasound Technician responsibilities:
- Applying non-invasive ultrasound techniques to diagnose blood vein, artery, or vessel diseases or disorders.
- Review the patient's medical chart prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the images required.
- Prepare ultrasound equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
- Explain ultrasound procedures to patients so they feel comfortable with the experience
- Perform ultrasounds on 10-15 patients per day, on average
- Take sonogram still images for physician and patients
- Notify Physicians of any abnormalities or concerns immediately
- Chart ultrasound results
- Soothe and reassure nervous or anxious patients
- Coordinate with representative for any equipment that needs calibration and maintenance
- Flex between managing daily schedule and add-on studies
- Assist in obtaining authorizations for patients with BCBS ultrasounds
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Must be able to dictate report using clear, slow speech
- Assist in team duties such as schedule review, laundry, refilling ultrasound gel containers
- Works positively with all customers to promote patient, employee, and physician satisfaction
- Manage Ultrasound schedule: move, call, reschedule as necessary.
Responsibilities include the following studies:
- Carotid doppler/duplex
- Arterial upper/lower extremity duplex
- AAA
- Peripheral Arterial Evaluation upper/lower extremities
- Venous ultrasound upper/lower extremities
- Ultrasound guidance of venous radiofrequency ablation (RF) and VenaSeal Closure
- Post RF procedure follow-up scans
- Dialysis access ultrasounds
- Vein mapping for dialysis access
- Digital pressures
Typical Physical Demands: Frequent mobility and\or sitting required for extended periods of time. Frequent bending and stooping required. Occasional lifting 50 or more pounds. Requires operation of Ultrasound equipment and typical office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner etc.
Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinical environment and requires frequent use of a computer, and positive patient interaction. Frequent contact with open wounds and\or surgical sites.
