Job Summary
Provides direct assistance to physician in procedural areas including invasive and non-invasive techniques.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
- Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
- Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
- Assists with positioning of patient utilizing stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
- Performs job duties in accordance with guidelines and professional standards outlined by the state practice standards for the profession.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required
- CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) required upon hire OR
- CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant through the the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) required upon hire OR
- CSFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required upon hire AND
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
