Surgical Specialty Center is looking for experienced OR Schedulers! NO weekends, No holidays, and best of all, NO call! If surgery is what you and a fun work environment is what you crave, then SSC is the place to be!

Purpose

Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate appropriate resources to accommodate surgical cases in an efficient manner. Coordinate OR time, equipment and personnel needs for efficient and safe surgical care.

Responsibilities

1. Enters data accurately and clarifies with physician office staff/schedulers, charge nurse and department managers/director when necessary.
2. Schedules current, future, and add-on surgery cases and pain and litho procedures accurately using computer system.
3. Schedules surgery according to average O.R. time when appropriate resourcing charge nurse, team leads and department managers/director when necessary.
4. Evaluates conflicts regarding room utilization, equipment and time allocation in scheduling and resolves or communicates situation to Charge Nurse or department managers.
5. Prints O.R. schedule and writes O.R. board accurately and timely.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Recent experience as an OR Scheduler in a hospital or medical environment with knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards independently and under dynamic conditions.
• Must possess good communication skills, especially via telephone and be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
• Good knowledge of office support functions including filing, faxing, composing a variety of documents, gathering and compiling data, and balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects.
